Youth of Color Event
The Youth Ministries of the SEPA Synod continues to promote spiritual and energizing events, activities and worship experiences among our
youth across our five county region. It is a ministry that is inclusive of the brainstorming ideas that are birthed from the youth who reside within your congregations. One of these recent ideas is to host a Youth of Color event which will happen this spring, as a lock-in April 30th – May 1st.

The event will focus on the idea of “Connections”. How are we connected to God, our communities, our church and each other?

Youth who are in grades 6th – 12th and identify themselves as a Youth of Color are invited to attend. The registration fee is $25 per person and scholarships are available.

Wonderfully Made Camp
There is an exciting upcoming opportunity for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender or questioning) teens and allies to attend a Lutheran camp in the area.
The camp is being sponsored by the SEPA Synod Lutheran Bryson/Gay & Lesbian
Task Force and is an opportunity for young people who identify as LGBTQ to come together and safely share worship, examine their faith and enjoy fellowship.

Camp dates are April 16-18 starting Friday night and finishing Sunday afternoon at Bear Creek Camp. Youth in grades 9-12 are invited to register. Registration is limited to the first 24 applicants.

The name of the camp, “Wonderfully Made” is taken from Psalm 139. Cost for the camp is $60 before March 30th and $75 after that date. Scholarship assistance is available before March 30th.

If you have a young person that might be interested in this camp, please share this opportunity with them. A brochure with more information and a testimony from last year’s camp is available below.

Connecting Through Confirmation

Confirmation, the time when a young person affirms his or her faith, cannot only happen in a classroom in your congregation.  In order to fully understand their calling as Christians, confirmands must get out into this world to be the hands, feet, ears and hearts of Christ to others. Our synod’s youth ministry and Liberty Lutheran Services, an umbrella Social Ministry Organization in our territory, believe this so strongly that we have partnered to create hands on learning opportunities for confirmation classes to engage in social ministry.

Download the information brochure for more details and contact Molly at mbeck@sepa.org for opportunities still available for the spring of 2010!
