LYO Challenge Goal
This spring the
Lutheran Youth Organization Board went on retreat to further vision and plan
for youth ministry in our synod. One of the things that came out of that
retreat was a Challenge Goal for youth and congregations in our conferences.
The goal focuses on
what the Board identified as a top priority and reason for youth ministry –
community outreach. The Board set a goal and is challenging congregations
in each conference to get involved. The goal is this – that this fall each
conference will reach out by having an in-kind offering for a charity,
ministry or organization on their territory.
Further details will
be sent to congregational contacts on September 2nd so be
looking out for information about what organization your conference is
supporting and details about collection.
Each conference will
be hosting a “Big Give Party” sometime in November or December for
congregations to bring all their items to a central location, meet other
youth from their conference, hear from a representative from the
organization they have collected items for and celebrate the goodness of
God!
